Bibliothèque

As a literary museum, the Maison de Balzac has collected since its creation an important collection of prints conserved in its library. Today, the collection gives access to more than 23000 monographs and periodicals in addition to numerous documentary folders and archives. These collections, centered on the work of Honoré de Balzac and Theophile Gautier also consider their social, literary, and artistic environments.

The library is equipped to help anyone (amateur, researcher, student, any level of study) interested in the collections. For access to the library, the reader will cross the former Balzac apartment, situated on the garden floor, and then go down two levels. Installed at the back of the building, the library is contiguous to rue Berton, a charming enclave dating back to the 18th century.
